Big changes are happening across social media! Instagram has revamped its profile grid, BlueSky is rolling out customizable video feeds, and Meta is making moves to attract TikTok users. 1. Instagram’s Profile Grid Transition

Instagram has updated its profile grid layout from the traditional square format to vertical rectangles.

This change aims to better showcase vertical content, such as photos and videos, without excessive cropping. While some users appreciate the enhanced visibility of their content, others are concerned about the disruption to their carefully curated profiles. Currently, there is no option to revert to the square grid, and the update is gradually rolling out across devices.

2. Instagram’s New Video-Editing App

In response to the potential TikTok ban, Instagram is introducing “Edits,” a video-editing app designed to serve as an alternative to CapCut. 

The app offers tools for AI animation, generative captions, and more, aiming to attract users seeking advanced video editing capabilities within the Instagram ecosystem.  

3. Meta’s Efforts to Attract TikTok Users

With TikTok facing a difficult road in the United States., Meta is actively encouraging TikTok users to migrate to Instagram and Facebook. 

Some TikTokers have been offered $5,000 to join Facebook and Instagram. 

They’ve introduced features like a TikTok Shop-like experience in Reels, allowing influencers to showcase products prominently. 

Meta is also promoting account linking between TikTok and Facebook to streamline the transition for users.  

4. BlueSky Enhances Video Features with Customizable Feeds

BlueSky has introduced customizable video feeds, allowing users to swipe through and create video-only timelines tailored to specific hashtags. 

In addition, a new “Trending Videos” feed has been added under the search tab, making it easier for users to discover popular video content. 

These updates, along with vertical videos, aim to improve engagement and position BlueSky as a viable alternative to platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
